Shop with a Cop® Serves over 100 Children & Families for the Holiday Season

The Central Indiana Police Foundation (CIPF) is proud to continue its support the efforts of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 86 (FOP) for the 2016 Shop with a Cop® Program. Shop with a Cop® has been an ongoing program of the FOP to provide under-resourced families with holiday assistance and one-on-one mentoring opportunities for youth for over 10 years. This year, through the great support of the community, we will proudly offer assistance and a once-in-a-lifetime experience to over 100 children and families in our community.

Participants will be picked up by local police officers on Saturday, December 17, and escorted to the Meijer Store on East Southport Road. From there, officers helped the children shop for warm winter clothes and educational toys.  After this unique experience, the children were escorted – with lights and sirens – to a local church, at which lunch and a Winter Wonderland awaited. It was a magical day that inspired participants and helped to establish positive police-community relationships.

Although Shop with a Cop® occurs on one day each year, the project requires year-long fundraising. Unfortunately, each year, there are more requests than we are able to support. To offer your support – and help grow this impactful program – please visit our donate page today!
