Prioritizing Officer Wellness: Why the CIPF Wellness Summit Matters
Officer wellness is no longer a “nice to have” — it’s a necessity. Departments across the country are recognizing the importance of supporting their officers’ mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. That’s why the Central Indiana Police Foundation (CIPF) created the Wellness Summit — to bring this important work home, connecting agencies, experts, and resources to strengthen the men and women who serve and protect right here in Central Indiana.
This year’s 2nd Annual Wellness Summit will take place Thursday, September 25 – Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Airport. Over the course of two days, attendees will choose from multiple education tracks designed for varying experience levels and department sizes. Sessions will explore real-world strategies for enhancing internal wellness programs, fostering supportive cultures, and addressing the evolving needs of officers in the field.
With more than 150 attendees expected — representing over 72 agencies from across Indiana — the Summit offers unmatched opportunities to learn, collaborate, and return to your department with actionable ideas that can be implemented immediately.
A Firsthand Perspective from the Field
Captain C. Evan Love, Enforcement Division Commander with the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office, attended the inaugural Wellness Summit in 2024. He shares why the experience was so valuable:
“My most valuable takeaway from the CIPF Wellness Summit was learning how other agencies run and manage their Officer Wellness Programs. Hearing from larger agencies about how they support their officers inspired me to pursue similar initiatives within our own department. Since attending last year, I’ve implemented several ideas with the goal of fostering a wellness-focused culture.”
For Captain Love, the mix of experienced speakers, hands-on resources, and networking was a powerful combination:
“The Summit’s speakers bring real-world law enforcement experience, offering insight into what truly works, and what doesn’t, when it comes to officer wellness. The resource booths and networking opportunities allow attendees to connect, share ideas, and explore ways to bring additional support back to their home agencies.”
Perhaps the most significant impact was the renewed motivation it sparked:
“For me, the greatest benefit of attending the Summit was returning with renewed energy and a stronger conviction to make officer wellness a priority in our agency.”
