The Central Indiana Police Foundation, in partnership with Lucas Oil, is proud to recognize IMPD Officer Michael Hupp as our September Officer of the Month.

Officer Hupp has served with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department since 2018, spending his career on the Southeast District Late Shift. He is a Field Training Officer, PIT-certified officer and member of IMPD’s Event Response Group. But what truly sets Officer Hupp apart is the way he shows up for the people around him.

Known for coming to work with a smile and a willingness to help, Officer Hupp is an informal leader on his shift and a mentor to new officers. He pursued his Field Training Officer role because he wanted to help young officers learn, grow and succeed. Whether working with a recruit, probationary officer or veteran, he is someone his colleagues know they can count on.

That same commitment extends to the community he serves. Officer Hupp proactively patrols his area, knows many community members by name and is always willing to lend a hand. He treats victims with compassion during difficult moments and works every day to make his community safer.

His dedication was especially evident in 2024, when his home caught fire and burned down. Despite facing an incredibly difficult personal hardship, Officer Hupp continued to serve without allowing his circumstances to affect the care and professionalism he showed the community.

His nominator summed it up best: “Officer Hupp is an outstanding officer that I wish I could duplicate a thousand times over.”

The Central Indiana Police Foundation is grateful for Officer Hupp’s service, leadership and commitment to his fellow officers and the community. Please join us in congratulating Officer Michael Hupp, our September Officer of the Month!
