Invest in Blue Grant: Protecting Martinsville School Police Officers

The Central Indiana Police Foundation is proud to share that the Martinsville School Police Department has received an Invest in Blue grant to enhance officer and student safety.

Established in 2024, the Martinsville School Police Department serves students and staff across the MSD of Martinsville. As a new agency, the department faced limited funding for critical protective gear. Through this grant, officers will now be equipped with four ballistic shields, providing essential protection during high-risk incidents and active shooter responses.

These shields, part of each officer’s Active Shooter Response Kit, offer a higher level of ballistic protection than standard duty vests and can also be used in tactical situations such as room entries, riot control, or assisting bystanders during emergencies.

The added protection will help ensure officers can respond swiftly and safely—protecting not only themselves but the students and staff they serve every day.

The Invest in Blue Fund provides critical equipment, training, and resources to law enforcement agencies across Central Indiana—helping officers stay safe while keeping our communities secure.
