The Central Indiana Police Foundation, in proud partnership with Lucas Oil Products, is honored to recognize Officer Ryan Deakin of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department as the November 2025 Officer of the Month.
Each month, CIPF and Lucas Oil Products celebrate officers who demonstrate exceptional teamwork, positivity, proactive service, and an unwavering commitment to their department and community. Officer Deakin embodies each of these qualities—and more.
A Go-To Leader on the Northwest District
Known throughout IMPD as the “go-to” person for the Northwest District, Officer Deakin consistently goes above and beyond to support his fellow officers and the community he serves. His reliability, responsiveness, and positive attitude make him an invaluable resource to both his district and the broader department.
Just last week, the Homicide Unit reached out to Officer Deakin late on a Sunday evening in need of potential security footage related to a recent case. Within an hour, he had reviewed the video, located the suspect vehicle, and provided the footage—demonstrating his efficiency, attention to detail, and willingness to assist at any hour.
Dedicated to His Team’s Success
In addition to his law enforcement duties, Officer Deakin serves as the Project Manager for the Northwest District Headquarters, a role that includes overseeing access codes, issuing keys, and managing facility maintenance. His care for his colleagues goes beyond logistics—he’s dedicated to creating a positive, healthy, and supportive work environment.
When officers expressed interest in healthier food options, Officer Deakin coordinated with Herculean Meals to install a vending machine at the district, providing nutritious choices during long shifts. He also helped establish a workout room for district officers, promoting wellness and morale during what continues to be a challenging time for law enforcement nationwide.
Building Trust Beyond the Badge
Officer Deakin’s leadership extends into the community as well. He is a regular presence at neighborhood meetings and community events, where his input and engagement have made him a trusted connection between residents and the department. As the district’s primary fundraiser, he leads efforts to secure financial support and strengthen relationships with community partners—furthering IMPD’s mission of collaboration, transparency, and trust.
