April 2026 Officer of the Month: Officer Nicholas Mathew
At the Central Indiana Police Foundation, we are proud to recognize officers who go above and beyond in service to their community. In partnership with Lucas Oil, we are honored to name IMPD Officer Nicholas Mathew as our April Officer of the Month.
Earlier this year, Officer Mathew responded to a call involving a woman in a wheelchair yelling for help. Upon arrival, he and fellow Officer Alfred Robinson found a vulnerable individual stranded far from home after her electric wheelchair lost power. With limited mobility and no immediate assistance available, she was unable to safely get herself back.
Officer Mathew quickly stepped in to help. After attempting to contact family members without success, he worked alongside fellow officers to find a solution. Together, they safely assisted the woman and her wheelchair into a vehicle that could accommodate her needs and ensured she was transported home and reunited with her family.
This moment reflects more than just problem-solving. It highlights the care and dedication Officer Mathew brings to every call. He recognized the urgency of the situation and took the extra steps necessary to ensure a safe outcome.
Through the support of partners like Lucas Oil, the Officer of the Month program allows us to recognize officers who demonstrate outstanding service, leadership, and commitment to their communities.
We are proud to recognize Officer Nicholas Mathew as the April Officer of the Month and thank him for his continued service to the Indianapolis community.
