Honoring Officer Artur Freitas – Fortville Police Department
The Central Indiana Police Foundation, in proud partnership with Lucas Oil Products, is honored to recognize Officer Artur Freitas of the Fortville Police Department as our September 2025 Officer of the Month.
Each month, CIPF and Lucas Oil Products celebrate full-time sworn officers who embody teamwork, positivity, proactive policing, and a deep commitment to their communities. These officers—whether highly visible leaders or quiet professionals flying under the radar—represent the very best of law enforcement.
Officer Freitas, a four-year veteran of the Fortville Police Department, exemplifies this standard of service. While his tenure may not yet rival the longevity of some colleagues, his dedication, attitude, and commitment to both his department and his community are unmatched.
In addition to his patrol duties, Officer Freitas:
Leads recruitment and hiring efforts for the department, helping build the future of Fortville PD.
Manages the department’s social media presence, strengthening transparency and community connection.
Volunteers as a School Resource Officer (SRO) on his days off at Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation, serving as a role model to students.
Serves on the Hancock County Joint Tactical Team (SWAT), responding to high-risk situations.
Acts as a Field Training Officer
Provides critical support as a Spanish translator—both on duty and off—regularly taking calls from fellow officers during traffic stops or service calls to assist with communication.
