Honoring those who make the ultimate sacrifice

Inscribed upon the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington DC is a touching statement from survivor Vivian Eney Cross: It is not how these officers died that made them heroes, it is how they lived. A new memorial wall is being planned for the Officer David Spencer Moore Memorial Recruit Training Wing at the IMPD Training Academy.  This will serve as a reminder to all who pass by about our local officers and deputies who have given the ultimate sacrifice protecting and serving our community.

The design previously painted on this wall did not survive environmental conditions within the building. To replace it, Freelance Graphics has designed a beautiful large mural on this wall utilizing the same vinyl material used on police vehicles. This material is designed to withstand moisture and temperature extremes. The display will contain framed pictures and graphic components to commemorate all fallen Indianapolis Police Department (IPD) and Indianapolis Metro Police Department (IMPD) officers, as well as Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies.  The centerpiece of the mural will be a custom aluminum cast badge.  The total cost of the project is an estimated $5,200.

Help us show that, as a community, we will never forget the sacrifices made by our fallen heroes and their family members.  To make your tax-deductible contribution to assist with this project, please fill out the form below or contact Officer Tiffany Halston by email.

Please note:  the design pictured above was created in early 2014 and does not yet include fallen Officer Perry W. Renn.  His image and information will be added to the design before it is installed.
