Building Stronger Departments Through Wellness: Highlights from the 2nd Annual CIPF Wellness Summit
The Central Indiana Police Foundation’s 2nd Annual Wellness Summit brought together officers, leaders, and wellness advocates for two powerful days of learning, connection, and inspiration.
From physical and mental health to family relationships and financial well-being, this year’s Summit addressed every aspect of what it means for officers to stay fit for duty — and fit for life.
CIPF Executive Director Lisa Rollings reflected on the success of this year’s Summit:
“We were very pleased with how the 2nd Annual Wellness Summit came together. By bringing in experts from outside Indiana, we provided our local departments with access to valuable tools and resources they might not otherwise encounter. The summit addressed every key aspect of officer wellness—including physical, mental, spiritual, financial health, as well as topics like marriage and parenting. So far, the feedback has been 100% positive, which is both encouraging and rare. We’re proud of the dedicated team that worked hard to support our local departments in helping their officers stay fit for duty—and fit for life.”
Officers who attended the Summit left energized and equipped with new tools to support their departments. Jill Lees of the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office said her most valuable takeaway was discovering new resources from the National FOP that she hadn’t been aware of, including Power in Peers, which she plans to bring back to her agency: “It is so important to review, revise, or put into action a peer support team and other steps to holistically take care of officers, deputies, families, and all employees.” For Patrol Sergeant Scott Klinger of the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department, the conference content and the networking opportunities are both incredibly valuable: “This is an inexpensive conference considering the valuable information you receive over the two days. The networking has been one of the biggest advantages for our Officer Wellness Division. Being able to talk with other officers who have already created programs or are in a similar phase as our department, helps bring new ideas”. Together, their reflections highlight how the Summit not only sparked fresh ideas but also spurred immediate action to strengthen wellness initiatives at the local level.
Looking Ahead
The Wellness Summit isn’t just an event — it’s a movement toward a stronger, healthier future for officers, their families, and the communities they serve. From new peer support initiatives to strengthened wellness programs, the seeds planted at this year’s gathering will continue to grow in departments across Central Indiana.
We are grateful to every officer, presenter, vendor, and partner who made this year’s Summit a success!
