National Night Out is all about bringing law enforcement and the community together—and the recent event hosted by the Homecroft Police Department did just that.
With all Homecroft officers in attendance, along with K9 Ziva, the event created a welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere where community members could connect with the officers who serve them.
Over the course of the two-hour event, guests enjoyed something for everyone. A tow truck display gave attendees an up-close look at some of the equipment used in the community, while food trucks, snow cones, and fresh popcorn kept everyone fueled for the afternoon. Games, activities, and plenty of free giveaways added to the fun.
The strong turnout was a testament to the community’s enthusiasm for coming together and building positive relationships with local law enforcement.
Chief of Police Dave Hodge shared that the event would have been difficult to host without the generous support of community partners, including the Central Indiana Police Foundation (CIPF).
“Several local vendors really made this event a success!” Hodge said. “A strong turnout over the two-hour period made the day even more memorable and showed just how much the community appreciated the fun, family-friendly environment.”
Events like National Night Out provide an important opportunity for officers and residents to interact outside of an emergency or call for service. Whether meeting K9 Ziva, enjoying a snow cone, playing a game, or simply having a conversation with an officer, these moments help build familiarity, trust, and stronger community connections.
