The Blue vs. Blue Prostate Cancer Awareness Organization is dedicated to raising awareness about prostate cancer—not only among law enforcement agencies across the United States but also within the communities they serve and protect. The organization believes that by educating both officers and the general public, we can save more lives and build stronger, healthier communities.
Prostate cancer is highly treatable when caught early. Our mission is to encourage all men—regardless of profession—to prioritize their health by undergoing annual screenings. Four officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) have faced this disease head-on. Although they mourn the loss of colleagues to prostate cancer, they credit early detection with saving their own lives.
These officers are now using their experiences to advocate for greater awareness, not just within police departments but throughout the wider community. Their stories are powerful reminders of the importance of proactive health care, the need for compassionate support from leadership, and the life-saving impact of early diagnosis.
Together, we can break the silence around prostate cancer, foster understanding, and create a culture where men feel empowered to take charge of their health—for themselves, their families, and their communities.
