Behind the Line: Building Connections One Card at a Time in Carmel
The Central Indiana Police Foundation is proud to support the Carmel Police Department through a Behind the Line grant that’s bringing a creative and meaningful community engagement initiative to life—the Cop Card Program.
Designed to strengthen relationships between officers and the community—especially youth—the Cop Card Program uses collectible trading cards as a simple but powerful way to spark conversation, build trust, and create lasting positive interactions.
Turning Everyday Moments into Meaningful Connections
Through this program, Carmel officers are distributing trading cards during community events and everyday interactions. Each card highlights an individual officer or unit, offering a fun and approachable way for kids and families to get to know the people behind the badge.
From patrol officers to specialized units, the cards showcase the diversity of roles within the department while encouraging youth to engage, ask questions, and connect. Some cards even feature officers alongside their personal hobbies or pets, helping humanize law enforcement and create a more relatable experience.
The goal? Collect them all—and along the way, build positive relationships with the officers who serve their community.

The Cop Card Program is more than just a fun giveaway—it’s a strategic approach to community policing. By encouraging repeated, positive interactions, the program helps:
